While this can be a normal healthy family model, it can become unhealthy when a family member becomes an addict and requires extra attention and stays in the middle of attention without fulfilling his or her family responsibilities.
We discuss how families can work together to identify these dynamics and find ways to support each other during times of crisis. We also examine the importance of balancing responsibilities and roles within the family to prevent one person from becoming overwhelmed or overly dependent on others.
